The Honourable Justice Penelope Neskovcin is an Australian judge of the Federal Court of Australia, serving since 8 February 2024.[1] Her appointment, alongside Craig Dowling SC, was announced by the Commonwealth Attorney-General on 7 February 2024.[2]

Early life and education

Justice Neskovcin graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1993.[1]

Legal career

She was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1994 and of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1995. Before joining the Bar she was a senior associate at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens). Justice Neskovcin was called to the Victorian Bar in 2002 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2016.[1]

Judicial career

The Attorney-General announced Justice Neskovcin’s appointment on 7 February 2024, with her commission commencing on 8 February 2024 in the Melbourne Registry.[2][3] A ceremonial sitting of a Full Court to welcome Justice Neskovcin was held on 28 February 2024, with speeches published by the Court and professional bodies.[4][5]
