The People's Mohajerin Organization of Iran (Persian: سازمان مهاجرین خلق ایران, romanized: Sazman-e Mohajerin-e Khalq-e Iran; named after Muhajirun) was a splinter group to the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) that was founded in 1975 in response to emergence of the Marxist faction in the group.[1] It was mainly active in Khuzestan Province.[1]
History[edit]
The group was co-founded by Mahmud Rahimkhani, Mohammad-Reza Sardari and Mahmud Jalili-Shabestari who were all killed before the Iranian Revolution in 1979, as well as Hassan Hormozi who died in a car accident shortly after the revolution.[1] It survived the crackdown by the Iranian government in the early 1980s, but came to an end when almost all members were arrested by the intelligence.[1] From the leadership of the group, Karim Jokesht was jailed in Iran but Ruhollah Feyli and Reza Ebrahiminezhad fled the country and settled in Europe.[1]
