The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran is a splinter group from the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) that was established in 1985,[citation needed] by a group of dissidents who accused Massoud Rajavi of a number of things including creating a personality cult and launching a premature insurrection against Khomeini. The group was founded and led by Parviz Yaghoubi, an activist since 1968 and a member of the MEK's central committee. Among members of the MEK who left it along with Yaghoubi, were Yaghoubi's wife Mina Rabiei, who was Ashraf Rabiei sister and Rajavi's sister-in-law, also supported this group.[1]
