Peter Richweisz is a Hungarian-born photographer, film director, and creative director known for his conceptual fashion editorials and independent films. He is the founder of *Desert Fish Magazine*, and his work spans photography, filmmaking, and art direction across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Early Life and Education
Peter Richweisz was born in Hungary and began his career in the visual arts before relocating to Dubai. Details about his formal education have not been publicly documented, though his early work established him as an experimental artist exploring fashion and surreal visual storytelling.
Career
Richweisz gained international recognition with his high-concept fashion shoots and exhibitions. He is the founder and creative force behind *Desert Fish Magazine*, a Dubai-based art and fashion publication known for its unconventional editorial approach.[1]
In 2003, his work was exhibited at the National Theatre of Hungary alongside paintings by Mihály Munkácsy, as part of a cross-sectional showcase of artists from Békés County.
He has collaborated with major global brands including **Gucci**, **L’Oréal**, **Swarovski**, **Lancôme**, and **CArtier**, **Moet Chandon**providing visual campaigns, creative direction, and fashion imagery.[1]
In 2012, he founded the concept fashion and art retail space called *The cARTel* in Dubai.[2]
In 2014, he won the Best Fashion Film award at the Hollywood International Fashion Film Festival for a piece produced for *Desert Fish*.[3]
His conceptual fashion calendar for *Desert Fish Magazine* was featured on **TrendHunter**, which highlighted the project's unique visual and thematic storytelling.[4]
Richweisz’s visual art installations have also been exhibited in group shows across the Middle East, London and Budapest. One such installation was noted by *The National (UAE)* as part of a conceptual photography showcase in Dubai.[5]
In interviews and profiles, Richweisz has acknowledged personal and professional connections with Hungarian avant-garde designer Tamás Király; in a Gulf News wardrobe/profile piece he said he acquired a vintage jacket from Király (which Király had previously obtained from Yves Saint Laurent), and Hungarian press has described the two figures as acquaintances within Budapest's fashion and art scene.[6]
