The Prabuddha Bharat (lit. "Enlightened India")[3] is an Indian Marathi language fortnightly paper or journal founded on 4 February 1956 by B. R. Ambedkar.[2][4] The newspaper publishes about issues faced by dalits and downtrodden people in India.[5] Its initial cost was thirteen paisa. The Prabuddha Bharat, a semi-monthly journal, publishes twice per month.[6]
History
On 24 November 1930, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar started Janata (the People) magazine, which lasted for 26 years. On 4 February 1956 the magazine's name was changed to Prabuddha Bharat (Enlightened India).[7][8][9][10][11]
