Puss In Boots' Giant Journey is a roller coaster based on the Puss in Boots franchise, a spin-off of the Shrek franchise, and is located in Universal Studios Singapore's Far Far Away Land area. The attraction was officially announced mid-construction on July 29, 2014, and opened on April 8, 2015.[1] The ride's opening day celebration included a stage-show, starring several characters from the 2011 film.[2] It is a family friendly ride that occupies the plot of land between the Far Far Away castle and the Waterworld theatre. As the parks' second inverted roller coaster, it is also referred to as "nineinverted" due to the fact it holds nine people per ride vehicle.[3]

Summary[edit]

Pre-show[edit]

The exterior entrance is the ruins of a large castle overgrown in ivy. Pictures of the ride vehicle, Humpty Dumpty's flying machines, are also on display. After entering the queue, the riders head into a giant kitchen, where they board the basket-shaped vehicles. Guests are then met by a large screen in a golden frame, where Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws introduce riders to the story, which involves them taking the eggs of a giant goose to save the San Ricardo orphanage.

Ride experience[edit]

The suspended roller coaster uses specially designed ride vehicles, of which there are seven unique nameplates based on characters from the film. The vehicle seats up to nine guests in three rows, in a traditional sit-down fashion each with its own lap bar. The ride on audio system provides each guest with a dedicated speaker to hear sound effect along with the ride experience. The ride first gets “wind” from Puss in Boots using a wine bottle before going up a spiral lift hill. Once at the top, the basket crashes through a wall with Puss in Boots getting confronted by the mother goose. The basket goes down and gets attacked by the chicks creating a deafening noise before speeding to where Puss in Boots reassures the mother goose and congratulates the riders on their mission.

Additional information[edit]

Technology[edit]

The ride's design consists of a spiral lift system, custom track layout and moves at slow to moderate speeds. The height requirement is set at 105 cm (42 in). The ride starts with a Zamperla paddle lift system. The vehicle is pushed up the lift and gains height until guests are over 17 meters (57 feet) in the air. Zamperla and P+A Projects, common partners of Universal Creative, handled the architecture, fabrication, installation, and engineering of the ride.[3][4]

Height restrictions[edit]

Guests must be at least 100 cm tall to ride. Children between 100 cm and 122 cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
