Rakhee Gupta Bhandari is an IAS officer from the 1997 batch of the Punjab Cadre who has held various important positions in the Centre as well as the State Government.[2]

Presently she is posted as the Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs,[3] Government of Punjab and Principal Secretary, Department of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Punjab.[4]

Early life and education[edit]

Rakhee Gupta was born on 28th July 1972 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Her father VK Gupta[5] was IRS officer and husband Rahul Bhandari is also an IAS officer.

Rakhee Gupta is a Graduate in Psychology (Hons.) from the Lady Sri Ram College, New Delhi, a Postgraduate from Delhi School of Economics and an M. Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College.[6]

Career[edit]

She has served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs[7] and additional experience of working in the Ministries like Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga, Rejuvenation, Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Power and Ministry of Textiles and Director NIFT. She has also worked as Deputy Commissioner of Faridkot, district in Punjab, Principal Resident Commissioner,[8] Punjab Bhawan, New Delhi & Principal Secretary to Governor,[9] Punjab, Chandigarh, among the other important assignments she has held in the State of Punjab.

Awards[edit]

Gupta has won many awards, medals and scholarships. She is a recipient of the 'Stree Shakti Puruskar' award in 2011 under the Category of Rani Rudramma Devi Award for administrative skills, leadership quality and commendable work for the overall development of women by H.E President of India on International Women's Day.

She is also a recipient of the 'Distinguished Alumna Award' from Lady Shri Ram College,[10] recognising her exceptional contribution to the field of public administration and the 'Illustrious DAVian Award (IDA) 2020' by DAV Group of Schools, Chennai awarded to her for outstanding contribution in leadership, extraordinary achievements, and contribution to society.[11]
