Reginald Pierre Saintil (born April 21, 1989), known professionally as Re90ssance (pronounced Renaissance), is an American recording artist, rapper and songwriter.

Personal life[edit]

Reginald Pierre Saintil was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He has two parents both from Haiti, as well as two brothers and one sister. He met fellow artist and producer Jaezoe while attending, and later graduating from, Trinity Catholic High School (class of 2007). In 2009, he attained an associates degree at ITT Technical Institute and later taking a semester at University of Massachusetts Boston. Unable to complete his four years at UMASS Boston due to finances, Re90ssance decided to work various jobs in order to support his music.

Music career[edit]

In 2012, known then as Suffolk Saint, Re90ssance released on Datpiff his debut EP mixtape, Uprising EP. This project containing six songs with five original beats produced by Jaezoe. He began to perform them throughout the city of Boston as well as Rhode Island. Although to little fanfare, Re90ssance kept perfecting his craft for the next two years following with his second mixtape Building Expectations in 2014. Within that same year, he stared in two music videos, She Got My Name[1] and See Me Now[2]. Suffering from minor depression and lamenting family members, Re90ssance took a three year hiatus from his music to focus on soul searching and re-branding his image.

Due to a love of the 1990s culture and Nostalgia, he decided to change his artist name from Suffolk Saint to Re90ssance as well as re-brand his indie label from A.L.O.N.E. Alliance to SHOWVINISTIC Entertainment. Originally, he was going to use the dictionary's spelling of Renaissance, but a Progressive Rock, United Kingdom band, Renaissance (band), already had the moniker. Now with a new identity, Re90ssance wasted little time in working on his debut album with long time friend and producer, Jaezoe. In 2017, "Chase Paper Not People" was finally released on itunes and spotify.

Genres, Style and Inspirations[edit]

Re90ssance enjoys writing and recording various types of music. The top three usually generate around Hip Hop, Rhythm and blues and Pop music. In terms of style, he likes to keep it "casual" and "urban" with his appearance, (jeans, khakis, sneakers, polo shirt, etc.). Currently, he has one tattoo on his right shoulder of a crown and slogan saying "A Better Breed of Artisity". Growing-up, Re90ssance idolized rappers like Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg trying to match his cadence with theirs. With a heavy appreciation for lyrics, Re90ssance always tries to add wordplay and content within his music while entertaining his listeners.
