Rob Wylde (born June 29th, 1977 Preston, Lancashire) is an English rock singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer most known for his work with the bands Midnite City and Tigertailz.

Biography[edit]

Rob began playing guitar at the age of nine and drums shortly afterwards. He began writing songs at the age of eleven inspired by his heroes KISS, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. At the age of seventeen, as drummer and songwriter, Rob formed the melodic rock band Inside Out in Bolton. The band released a self titled CD in 1997 which garnered some label interest.

After five years with Inside Out, and showcasing for a few labels, the band dissolved and Rob moved to Nottingham to start afresh, ditching the drums and taking up vocal duties to join the band China Doll. In 2002 China Doll released the EP 'Better Late Than Never' which attracted the interest of Nottingham-based record label TB Records who offered the band a two-album deal in 2003. In the summer of 2003 the band headed out on tour opening for American melodic rock band Danger Danger. Following the tour, the band were offered the support slot with German band Bonfire later in the year. On the eve of recording their debut album, China Doll's guitarist and drummer quit and the band broke up as a result.

With changing times ahead, in late 2003 Rob decided to update his look and sound to form the Powerpop band Teenage Casket Company. The band toured relentlessly throughout the UK and released their debut album 'Dial It Up' in May 2005. Following the release of the album the band toured the USA in the summer of 2005. In June 2006 the band released the EP 'Eat Your Heart Out' before once again touring the States with Vains Of Jenna and Tuff that summer. Upon returning from the USA the band also played shows in Europe. After another UK tour with New York band The Erotics in late 2007, Teenage Casket Company decided to take a break so all four band members could concentrate on different projects.

This led to Rob relocating to Boston, Massachusetts to form the cock rock band Sins Of America. The band played shows all over the east coast of America and signed with the label Illumina Records who released a five track EP titled 'Own Best Enemy' in November 2008.

During a visit back to the UK, Rob also played several shows as guitarist for former Tigertailz vocalist Steevi Jamiz.

Sins Of America disbanded in September 2010 and Rob returned to the UK where Teenage Casket Company regrouped. The band released a best of compilation titled 'Best Kept Secret' on American label Jamsync Music in 2011 and followed this up with an all new studio album titled 'Still Standing' in 2013.

In 2011 Rob also joined melodic rock band Vega as touring bassist and played shows with them throughout the UK and Europe as well as playing on their 'What The Hell' album.

In 2012 Rob quit Vega to join Tigertailz as rhythm guitarist and headed out on a European tour throughout October and November. Following the tour, a line up shuffle led Rob to switch to bass guitar in 2013, releasing the EP 'Knives' later that year. In 2014 Tigertailz played shows with KISS and Cheap Trick in the USA as part of the KISS Kruise. After another tour of Europe Tigertailz singer Jules Millis quit the band and in the summer of 2015, Rob took over as lead vocalist. Tigertailz released a brand new studio album 'Blast' in April 2016 and toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe in support of the album. They followed this up by releasing a re working of the 1987 'Shoot To Kill' EP in late 2016.

In November 2016, and after thirteen years together, Teenage Casket Company decided to call it a day and played one final show in Nottingham, releasing a rarities CD titled 'Left For Dead' to coincide with it

In January 2017 Rob formed the hair metal band Midnite City. The band signed a deal with German label AOR Heaven and released their self titled debut album in October 2017 to rave reviews. Over the following twelve months the band toured throughout the UK and Europe before releasing their sophomore album 'There Goes The Neighbourhood' in October 2018. Following the release the band played several shows in Europe before heading out on their first headlining tour of the UK in June 2019. Shortly after the tours completion the band announced a forthcoming tour of Japan and Australia. After playing 2 solo out shows in Japan (Osaka and Tokyo), the band returned to the UK for a second headlining tour in November 2019 and released the 5 track limited edition acoustic CD 'Open Invite' which was only available at shows. In March 2020 the band headed to Australia to play 2 shows in Melbourne before returning home to work on their third album, splitting ties with former label AOR Heaven in the process. The band released their third album 'Itch You Can't Scratch' on new label Roulette Media on June 21st 2021 and headed out on tour to support it in the summer of 2021. In February the band headed out on the 'They Only Come Out At Night Tour' playing shows all over the UK as well as several big festivals.

In the summer of 2022 it was confirmed that Rob had parted company with Tigertailz due to irreconcilable differences.

In late 2022 Midnite City signed a new deal with Pride and Joy Music for the release of their fourth album. In At The Deep End was released in June 2023, following which the band headed out on a UK tour. In September it was announced that the band will return to play two shows in Japan in December 2023.
