He has previously played for Simon Fraser University, Debreceni Hoki Klub of the Erste Liga, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies of U Sports as well as Alba Volán Székesfehérvár of the EBYSL.[3]
Early career[edit]
Rob spent his entire youth hockey career with the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association. During his final year of minor hockey he would represent the Hungarian under-18[4] and under-20 national teams.
Junior career[edit]
His junior career began with the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League in 2010/2011, finishing second in team scoring[5] as well as being selected to the league all-star game and Storm rookie of the year.[6]
Beginning the 2011/2012 season with the Campbell River Storm he would quickly join the Aurora Tigers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he picked up 4 points in his first 4 games, however he would go pointless in his next 6 games leading to his trade to the Pictou County Crushers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. He would finish the year pointless in his 14 games played including playoffs.
Professional career[edit]
During the summer of 2012 he signed with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár of the EBYSL. That year he would go on to win the Austrian and Hungarian league and cup double beating Czech team Orli Znojmo[7] and Hungary's Ujpesti TE.[8] He would re-sign for the following season as well amassing 29 points in 52 games across all competition. That year his team would finish second in the Austrian championship losing to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana[9] in the league finals, they would however defend their Hungarian title[10] giving him 3 championships over two seasons with the Hungarian side.
In August 2017 he signed a 1-year contract with Norwegian side Furuset.
CIS career[edit]
During the summer of 2014 he committed to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies of the CIS.[11] League rules would force him to redshirt the entire 2014/2015 season, limiting him to non-league competition only. This led to his departure in the summer of 2015.
MOL Liga[edit]
After receiving multiple offers from teams throughout Europe, he returned to Hungary in 2015, signing with second year team Debreceni Hoki Klub.[12] His season was marred by multiple injuries including a broken jaw[13] in the pre-season and a broken leg on his return. He would eventually miss out on the 2015-16 play-offs. He was limited to just 24 games amassing 3 points over that stretch.
Return to College[edit]
After spending time on a professional tryout contract (PTO) with HK Poprad of the Slovak Extraliga[14][15] he decided on a return to Canada to once again play college hockey. Committing to Simon Fraser University of the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League and NCAA.
International career[edit]
He has represented both the U-18 and U-20 Hungarian national teams. In 2009 he participated in a 3-game series with the U-18 team against Russia collecting 2 assists in those three games.[16]
