Tomás Arbillaga (born 1 October 1998), better known as RobleisIUTU or simply Robleis, is a Argentinian YouTuber, singer and Twitch streamer. With 16.6 million subscribers, it is one of the most-subscribed Argentina YouTube channels, while he also has the seventh most-followed Twitch channel with over 3.5 million followers.[1] On Twitch it is among the 50 channels with the most users of the platform in the world and among the 10 Spanish-speaking ones.[2][3]

Biography[edit]

Tomas Arbillaga was born in Olavarria, Buenos Aires (province), on October 1, 1998, being the middle brother (second brother) of the Arbillaga family.[4] His older brother is Matías (1995) and his younger brother is Thiago (2008). When he was five years old he met cyber, where he began to get into the environment of technology, of video games.[5] His parents forbade him to go out, so he moved back into his house with his brothers. At that age, he confessed his passion for video games at least 3 years after thanks to the famous video game "Duck Hunt" de Family Computer, and had an idolatrous behavior.[6]

Career[edit]

First channel and beginnings (2011-2012)[edit]

Arbillaga created his first YouTube channel on October 16, 2011 under the name of mrtuco08, whom Tomás claimed to be a play on words referring to a type of traditional Argentine salsa. His first public video was uploaded on October 29, 2011, which was a video from the video game Counter Strike. Since it was the time of said video game, he started uploading videos of Counter Strike 1.6, and his first video was "El Cs en Real" (a Counter Strike sketch). A few moments later, on November 5, 2011, he uploaded his first tutorial and the most viewed on his channel "How to Download and Install HLSS and Its Binds", which had already had plans to later download a recording program to upload Counter Strike 1.6. During 2011, he began to regularly upload videos of the aforementioned video game, to which Robleis commented on unusual situations.

In April 2012, despite the low popularity of his videos, he then decided to leave his channel and then start a new channel called "necA808", which first uploaded a snippet of a Counter Strike 1.6 game to then 2 tutorials on "going from a ".dem" file to a ". .avi" and then a video of Dragon City and then leave it to him and create a new one called "EstrenateUnaRisa".[7]

Growth and popularity (2012-2019)[edit]

On November 5, 2012, Arbillaga created another channel under the name of EstrenateUnaRisa, where he began to upload sketches about life situations in a humorous way in various videos, which at that time was a very popular format on the platform. Robleis was one of the pioneers in making this type of video in the Spanish-speaking community, and its popularity began to increase. His said channel was the one that became an internet phenomenon and also, he uploaded videos with his younger brother, ThiagoIUTU, but his school friends claimed that he copied HolaSoyGerman, he denied (but when he reacted to his videos from previous channels, I affirm that if it was copied) as a form of response so as not to get angry at itself.[8] On April 19, 2013, he uploaded the video "IMPORTANT NOTICE OF THE NEW CHANNEL" revealing his channel change on YouTube.

Around that time, he created his channel called RobleisIUTU, where he tried to summarize, in an ironic and humorous way, a video game. His channel became one of the most viral YouTube channels in Buenos Aires at the time. On April 19, 2013, he uploaded his first video alluding to the video game Minecraft. Because video games were popularly emerging at the time, she decided to make a series about her alongside her younger brother. Then, he uploaded a video saying that he would leave the channel and that he would make a new one to dedicate himself to gameplays, which was his channel where he had great popularity. He started his channel with the video "MINECRAFT - CON MI HERMANITO EN EL DESIERTO PARTE 1" which gained popularity for his horror videos and Minecraft gameplays. In 2018, he created his fifth and secondary channel called "RobleisJAJA", which would mainly be dedicated to Fortnite,[9] but after the fame that Free Fire released, he decided to play it, but he abandoned it years later.[10][11] The popularity of the channel and Robleis continued to rise, and on May 9, 2016, it reached 100,000 subscribers, whom Robleis celebrated by preparing a milkshake combining drinks and ingredients. On June 8, 2016, the channel reached 200,000 subscribers by uploading a video. It uploaded a video where it inquired about Omegle, an online chat and video page that allows users to socialize with other people. On September 16, 2016, RobleisIUTU reached 300 thousand subscribers.

In the summer of 2019, Robleis, together with PedritoVM, traveled to Spain at the invitation of the Squad Piscineros, who, received by Shooter, after a few hours of flight, arrived in Madrid and visited Squad Piscineros to record with them.[12] In February 2019, he decided to go to Barcelona to give the process of going to Argentina, which, this was after a video they recorded (which would be the last video where it would be recorded in Spain), and after a few days they came to Argentina for everyone to their home.[13][14]

Platform switch to Twitch and other projects (2019-act)[edit]

At the beginning of 2019, Robleis would release his first book titled "Zombie Adventure in Movydrill".[15][16] In April, he mentioned that he would be present at the Penguin Random House Book Fair in Buenos Aires signing copies of his recent book to a crowd of fans between the ages of 8-14 who queued for several hours.[17][18][19]

In 2021, Robleis was part of a Minecraft series called "TortillaLand" (a reference to the "Tortilla" recipe), where he was seen with a new skin, although this would change days later for Robleis with his decisions through the Discord server of TortillaLand and YouTube.[20][21] In December 2021, he uploaded a video explaining that he would leave TortillaLand, and this was because he was late with some deals they had on the Discord server, so much so that it was fulfilled by all the members except Robleis, after this, decided to leave the series without notice to its members.[22]

Robleis in several years, had sung songs that he listened to, although later he left it due to copyright problems. In 2021, Robleis decided to take a step towards his musical career because he wanted to release a song, but he couldn't because he didn't know how to compose.[23][24]

Then, he learned the composition and released songs with the collaboration of his older brother, thus being born, "Dejalo Atras" in collaboration with his brother Rushlai, surpassing 16 million streams on digital platforms. Later, he released later songs like "Por El Aire" and "BONUSTRACK", becoming famous.[25] Then he would release "Una noche más", a song that changes the paradigm of the music he had been doing and that was positioned, in a few hours, as a trend in several countries.[26] The plan is to continue in this line of singles until reaching the album. “Perhaps I will stay longer in Argentina to record my album, and that the concept, the meaning, the design be as perfect as possible”.[27][28]

“When I come to Argentina I take it upon myself to produce as much as I can together with Big One and Estani. I remember that I contacted them one day on Instagram thinking that they were not going to answer me and we got to work together, we have done remote productions, like when we recorded "Bonustrack", but the sound and the result do not compare "

— Robleis[29]

With more than 16 million subscribers on YouTube, the multifaceted artist from Olavarri causes a furor with his first shows in Argentina and sells out shows in record time.[30][31] Robleis knew how to conquer the new generation with his digital content, becoming the successful artist among young people and teenagers,[32][33][34] after a total success that led him to achieve three sold-outs at the Vorterix Theater in his first show as a singer called "Proyecto Robleis" in December, 2021,[35][36] returning to his hometown to be part of a musical career that he would look forward to for a long time.[37][38][39]

On January, Robleis would present his second show called "Robleis Olavarría".[40] His music began to gain popularity on social networks after announcing to his public his intentions in the initiation of his artistic career as a singer.[41] It currently has more than 500,000 active monthly listeners on its Spotify insights.
