Early life and education[edit]
Sorenson was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and graduated from Sheboygan South High School. He then received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.[2] Sorenson was student body president while attending college and oversaw reforms in the organization resulting in increased transparency and higher ethical standards with the handling of over 23 million dollars in student segregated fees.[2]
Career[edit]
Sheboygan City Council[edit]
While on the city council, Sorenson serves as chairman of the Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee, chairman of the Transit Commission, vice chairman of the Pblic Works Committee, chairman of the Committee of the Whole, and member of the Capital Improvements Commissions.[1]
Sorenson's tenure has consisted of addressing the public health crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the culinary and hospitality industry. He led the effort to update municipal ordinances to allow for outdoor dining and private use of public spaces in the interest of supporting the economy, while addressing conditions that slow the spread of the COVID-19.[3]

On December 1,[when?] Sorenson announced his bid for mayor to unseat incumbent Mike Vandersteen. If elected, Sorenson would be one of the youngest mayors in Sheboygan's history.[4]
