Scott Daniel Wozniak (born 1997), known online as Scott The Woz, is an American YouTuber, gamer, and filmmaker who is best known for his web and television series Scott The Woz.[2][3]

Early life[edit]

In 2006, at the age of 9, Wozniak received a digital camera for Christmas. With his camera, he starting making videos. He burned his videos onto DVDs, drew cover art for them, and put them on his shelf. Later that year, Wozniak began to write an amateur magazine, entitled "Wozniak News." In addition to his magazine, Wozniak made a website and YouTube channel for his friends to view his content. In his videos, he covered topics such as comics, news, and video games. Due to a lack of motivation caused by low viewership, Wozniak stopped creating videos in 2012. According to Wozniak, he still has a passion for it and may continue these ventures at a later date.[4]

Career[edit]

In 2016, Wozniak's senior year of high school, him and some friends decided to produce a final video before graduating. After 6 months of filming and editing, he uploaded the finished product, a 30-minute comedy-skit entitled "The Internet and You," to the YouTube channel, Scott the Woz; the very same channel that would later drive him to success. Wozniak subsequently uploaded 2 more skits to YouTube in 2016.[4]

In December of 2016, Wozniak began production on a video discussing what he wanted from the Nintendo Switch, a then-upcoming gaming console by Nintendo. He completed the video, "Nintendo Switch Wish List," on January 7, 2017.[4] This would be the genesis of his Scott the Woz web series. The channel reached one million YouTube subscribers in 2020.[5]

Following a partnership between YouTube TV and the television channel G4, episodes of Scott the Woz began airing on the G4 television channel in December, 2021.[6][2]

Fundraising[edit]

In 2019, Wozniak and Pixel Empire partnered up to sell a limited amount of Scott The Woz themed merchandise. The $70,000 raised by the fundraiser was donated to the Critical Care Comics and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals charities.[7] In 2020, Wozniak re-partnered with Pixel Empire for the "Scott The Woz Merchandise for Charity Bonanza 2020," which aimed to sell limited-edition merchandise to raise more money for charities. Some of the merchandise sold during the fundraiser included wall art and t-shirts. The fundraiser ended on January 17, 2021, raising a total of $203,762 for the Critical Care Comics and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals charities.[8]

Wozniak then donated $203,522.44 of his own money to the aforementioned charities. He also donated $16,000 across 5 donations to CMN hospitals.[8]

On November 26, 2021, an officially licensed Scott the Woz edition of the Monopoly board game was announced. The game was sold in limited quantities on Pixel Empire for $50 as part of a fundraiser for charity.[9]
