Secondary Schools' United Nations Symposium (SSUNS) was created in 1992 and is currently the largest high-school Model United Nations conference in Canada. SSUNS welcomes 1300 delegates every November in Montreal, and with 500 McGill University students staffing, the conference has an approximate ratio of 1 staffer for every 2.5 delegates. The vision of the conference is to empower high-school students by allowing them to explore topics on a global scope, both present and past, through exchanging ideas with their peers and advocating for solutions to the world's most pressing issues. SSUNS welcomes international delegations every year and past delegates have come from countries such as Uganda, Trinidad & Tobago, and the Bahamas.[1]

During the conference, SSUNS hosts a fair, known as the SSUNS Walkway[2], in which non-profit organizations, educational institutions and outreach programs speak with students about volunteer, work and educational opportunities. Through this, students learn more about how they can apply the knowledge they gain from their committees to their communities and beyond.

Since 2015, SSUNS has partnered with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to provide a committee where students can have a realistic experience in actual UN headquarters.[3]
