EagleMUNC Inc.
'EagleMUNC' is a Model UN conference hosted by EagleMUNC inc. This conference is intended for high school students. In 2012, the conference was held on Boston College's campus on Saturday, December 1. Afterwards, interest and support was strong enough to warrant an expansion from a one-day, to weekend-long conference. The conference is currently held in the Westin Copley Hotel in Boston, and has taken place 5 times as of 2017.[1] [2]
Format[edit]
The conference takes place over one weekend in March, and is known for its 40-hour simulation concept, where the delegates can be called to committee at any time of the day, generally at 12:00 am to solve a crisis.
EagleMUNC generally consists of crisis committees, or committees where various crises are introduced over the course of the conference. These are the only committees that can be called to face a crisis at any time. On the other hand, general assemblies generally do not include crisis situations. They have set issues that they generally do not deviate from.
On Friday night, opening ceremonies and the first committee session take place. That night, crisis committees are also called in to solve an unexpected crisis from 12:00 to 1:00am. On Saturday, 3 more committee sessions take place, and that night, the delegate dance and trivia nights occur on the conference room level of the Westin. The following morning, there is one more committee session, and closing ceremonies, where awards are presented.
Boston College and EagleMUNC[edit]
Boston College, founded in 1863, is among America’s most prestigious Catholic Universities. The University’s rich political history includes alumni such as Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O’Neil, Secretary of State John Kerry, and US Senator Scott Brown. Boston College has often occupied a platform of political prominence from involvement in the Northern Ireland Peace Process to the educational nexus of the Kennedy family, for which John F. Kennedy denoted the university the “Jesuit Ivy.” EagleMUNC seeks to espouse the Jesuit hallmark of “Curis Personalis,” or care for the entire person, the core of a dynamic EagleMUNC diplomat. The Jesuit tenement of Social Justice in Leadership is the principal lesson that EagleMUNC hopes to impart upon its delegates, as real world power and influence requires an innate sense of human justice.[3]
EagleMUNC Academy[edit]
EagleMUNC delegates will be faced with a continuous, 40-hour simulation. This requires them to fully immerse themselves as the leaders they represent. In order to maximize delegates’ mastery of both Parliamentary Procedure and traditional Model UN skill, as well as the art of success in an immersive simulation, EagleMUNC offers the EagleMUNC Academy. Hosted in Boston College’s iconic Gasson Hall, the academy will feature guest speakers from the Boston College faculty, representatives of the United Nations Association, and the decorated EagleMUNC Secretariat. Lessons and speakers will discuss the global affairs/issues at hand our EagleMUNC Committees, strategic debate style in parliamentary procedure, dynamic strategies for partaking in a simulation, and the tricks of the trade in Model UN strategy.

EagleMUNC Epilogue[edit]
The deliberations and dialogues forged by delegates at Boston College will cast a foundation for further discussion that will extend beyond closing ceremonies. With this in mind, we hope to create a means by which the decisions EagleMUNC delegates make can reverberate through our (simulated) global community. Thus, we introduce the “EagleMUNC Legacy” Epilogue Film.
What is the “EagleMUNC Epilogue”?[edit]
Under the guidance of a talented production team of Cinematography and Creative Producing majors, EagleMUNC will produce a simulation documentary based on the decisions, directives, and resolutions arrived at during the conference. By syncing committee footage with newscasts, EagleMUNC Resolution analysis, and “footage” of the historical events to follow as a result of the conference, a portrait will be painted of the next five, ten, and twenty years of UN and world history as a result of the crucial moments at EagleMUNC. Nations will fall, superpowers will rise, war and peace will tango, and the global portrait will remain forever changed by the delegates of EagleMUNC. This unprecedented project will give Model UN delegates a chance to tangibly experience the fallout of their decisions and deliberations in the EagleMUNC simulation, and is sure to be imitated by national conferences for years to come.
