Sentinel Occupational Safety, Inc. is an occupational safety and health company that provides real-time monitoring and alerting services for workers in hazardous environments.[1]

History[edit]

Sentinel was founded in March 2020[2] as a venture-backed spinoff of Aptima Inc. Funded by Aptima Ventures, LLC and Accelerant Venture Capital,[3] its goal was to commercialize a "confined space monitoring system"[3] developed for the safety of United States Air Force maintenance personnel and make it available to "organizations that have workers or patients operating in risk-laden environments."[4] This system, branded as "SafeGuard,"[5] was developed in collaboration with the US Air Force, United States Navy, Air Force Research Laboratory, Lockheed Martin, and NextFlex at a cost of more than $10M in government R&D contracts.[4]
