Seyedmeysam Agha Seyedhosseini (Persian: سید میثم آقا سید حسینی‎, born 1983), sometimes transliterated as Syed Meysam Agha Syed Hosseini, is an Iranian cartoonist, journalist, and blogger. He was born on 15 May 1983 in Rey, Iran. He fled Iran to Turkey after pressure and attacks by the regime over his comics.[1] A petition was launched to help move him to another country from Turkey.[2]

Career[edit]

He loved cycling from a young age and travelled around Iran by bicycle. On one of those trips he had some health problems and the Iranian Red Crescent Society Rescue Team helped him. After that incident, he decided to join the team.[3][4][5]

With the coordination of Iranian Red Crescent Society, he painted the approximately 365 ft (34 meters) painting called The Patience and Victory with two other painters. It was exhibited in Enqelab Square in Tehran but after a while it was destroyed in the warehouse of the Iranian Red Crescent Society.[6]

Aghaseyedhosseini was responsible for evaluating works of art before exhibition in the gallery of Roudaki Hall, and cartoons for Sanatoetoseh magazine.[7]

Seyedmeysam Aghaseyedhosseini has been interviewed by ShahrvandNewspaper, Radio Farhang in Sweden and several other news agencies. In his interviews, he said he had left the country because of the problems the government created and forced him to do whatever they wanted.[1][8]
