Sharif Mohamed, (Dhivehi: ޝާރިފް މުހައްމަދު ) (born May 09, 1995), is a Maldivian politician who was the 2nd Media Coordinator at The President's Office of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He is also a Maldivian entrepreneur known for his contribution towards empowerment of youth and technological advancements in Maldives.
Early career and family life[edit]
Sharif Mohamed was born and raised in Male' City.
Sharif Mohamed attended the Dharumavantha School for his secondary education before receiving his degree from University of The West of England, Bristol.
Sharif began his career right after his secondary education and secured work experiences in multiple areas. After graduating from studies, he engaged in various humanitarian organizations both locally and abroad countries. He also got elected as the Vice President of Junior Chambers International Maldives's Male' Chapter in 2017 before the disestablishment of the chapter. Sharif stepped into the national spotlight in 2013 as a young academic discussing various economic and developmental issues relating to the government.
He became the 2nd Media Coordinator at the President's Office to be appointed by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom[lower-alpha 1] on 10 July 2015.[2].
On 18 August 2019 opposition-aligned local media RaajjeTV telecasted a leaked audio file of Sharif vowing to confront Vice President of Maldives Ahmed Adeeb, which roared the social media with confirmation of power tension between the Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom[3][4]. He was terminated from the position on 19 August 2019 and was transferred to Maldives Road Development Corporation Limited the same day, which was later confirmed by Spokesperson of The President's Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali briefing to the press[5].
Political career[edit]
Sharif was appointed to the youth council of Jumhooree Party and served as one of the founding youth council member[lower-alpha 2]. After Abdulla Yameen was sworn in as President of Maldives, on 10 July 2015, Sharif Mohamed was appointed as the 2nd Media Coordinator at the President's Office[6]

In July 2015, President Abdulla Yameen appointed Sharif Mohamed as the Media Coordinator at The President's Office. Sharif Mohamed was the youngest political appointee in South Asia at the time[lower-alpha 3].
