Shaun Joplin was born on June 10, 1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, where his parents, Jane (née Vince) and Joneal Joplin, he have sibling: twin sister Victoria (June 10, 1977), Randall Jean and Joneal Jr. (February 14, 1973), Carl and Dorothy (January 18, 1982), Gina and Victor (December 6, 1986) and Matthew and Nikki (November 23, 1989).
