Sheikh Aḥmadullāh ibn Muḥammad Dilāwar Ḥusayn ibn Sulṭān Aḥmad al-Bashikfūrī (Arabic: شيخ أحمد الله بن محمد دلاور حسين بن سلطان أحمد البشكفوري‎, Bengali: শায়খ আহমদুল্লাহ বশিকপুরী; born 15 December 1981) is a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, author, presenter and lecturer. He is the founder of As-Sunnah Foundation charity organisation. His books have been distributed over 300,000 times. Ahmadullah is currently the khatib of Bhumipalli Jame Mosque in Narayanganj and chairman of Madrasatus Sunnah.

Early life and family[edit]

Ahmadullah was born as Ahmad Husayn on 15 December 1981, to a Bengali Muslim family in the village of Bashikpur in Lakshmipur, Noakhali District, Bangladesh. Bashikpur is known as Ulama-e-Kiramer Gram and is home to many Deoband graduates such as Mawlana Abdul Aziz Janabwala Sahib. Ahmadullah was the second child of the four sons and two daughters of businessman Muhammad Dilawar Husayn. His father was one of the sevens sons of Mawlana Sultan Ahmad Bashikpuri, who was a graduate of Darul Uloom Deoband.

Sheikh Ahmadullah married at the age of 23, and has one daughter and three sons (all of whom are huffaz).

Education and career[edit]

Ahmadullah studied at Bashikpur Primary School up until class three. His father then took him to the Danapur Madrasa, a qawmi institution in Harinarayanpur, Maijdee, which was founded by the owner of Dana Miah Hotel. He studied the first three jamaats of Nurani in Danapur Madrasa. Sheikh Ahmadullah then studied at the Urdukhana of Chandraganj Boalia Madrasa for one year. After that, he joined the Faizul Uloom Madrasa in Hatiya Island and directly studied Mizan and Nahw Mir under Mufti Saiful Islam Sandwipi. The Mufti changed his named from Ahmad Husayn to Ahmadullah. They managed to survive during the cyclone in 1988 which devastated Hatiya. He stayed for a month at a madrasa in Feni.

Ahmadullah then enrolled at the most prestigious qawmi institution, Jamia Ahliya Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Hathazari. His neighbour in Hathazari was Mufti Shahidullah, and so Sheikh Ahmadullah had the honour of being his khadim. Ahmadullah studied Nafhatu Arab and Al-Hidaya under him. Ahmadullah completed examinations of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh boar from Jamia Islamia Daratana madrasa in Jessore. He got the tenth place in his Sharh-e-Wiqaya/Thanawiyyah (HSC), third place in his Fazilat/Mishkat, and second place in the Dawra-e-Hadith (2001) examinations. His roommate in Hathazari was Zakariyya Abdullah (teacher at Markaz ad-Dawah al-Islamia), who was one jamaat ahead of him and a classmate of Anas Madani (son of Shah Ahmad Shafi). After graduating from Hathazari in 2001, Sheikh Ahmadullah completed his ifta from Jamia Islamia Arabia Darul Uloom Khulna.

After completing his education in 2003, Mawlana Muhammad Salman employed Sheikh Ahmadullah as a teacher at his Dar ar-Rashad madrasa for elders in Mirpur, Dhaka. From his first meeting, Sheikh Ahmadullah was appointed as Nazim-e-Darul Iqamah (Hostel Superintendent). He taught there until 2009, although between that time he spent one year teaching Hadith at the Arzabad madrasa alongside Rezaul Karim Islamabadi. From 2004 to 2009, he was also the imam and khatib of Baitul Falah Jame Masjid.

In 2009, he was invited to the Middle East due to his proficiency in the Arabic language. He served as a preacher and translator at the West Dammam Islamic Dawah Centre for ten years, returning in 2018. He was a TV presenter in Peace TV Bangla. He has also participated in international programmes in Japan, India and the United Arab Emirates.

During the Coronavirus pandemic and now, his As-Sunnah Foundation has been widely discussed and praised for its timely initiatives. His writings are often published in the leading media of Bangladesh. It was inspired by As-Sunnah Trust which was founded by late Dr. Khandaker Abdullah Jahangir. Also wrote hundreds of articles on various subjects. Many of his writings have also been published in Arabic.
