She is an official member and the first ever center girl of the all-girl Filipino idol group MNL48 [1] [2] which is the Philippine chapter of Japanese pop group phenomenon AKB48.[3] Sheki is part of MNL48's first generation members and ranked #1 in the First MNL48 Senbatsu election; [4] which was announced at the noontime show It's Showtime on April 14, 2018.

Career

MNL48

At age 17, Sheki became a member of MNL48's first generation. She’s part of Team MII,[5] which is composed of 16 girls and debuted on April 28, 2018.

In 2018, Sheki was elected as rank 1 in the first MNL48 General Elections [4], which makes her the first ever Center Girl [6] of MNL48. Sheki is also part of the Kami 7 [6] together with Abby Trinidad, Sela Guia, Christine Coloso, Zennae Inot, Alice de Leon and Trixie Tano. Unfortunately, 2 of the Kami 7 left the group [7] – Zennae Inot and Trixie Tano. Their places in the Top 7 were given to Ella Amat and Ashley Garcia, who were part of the Top 16 girls of the group.

On August 13, 2018, MNL48 announced the release of their debut single Aitakatta-Gustong makita [8], a Tagalog version of the AKB48 song of the same title[8]. Based on AKB48's tradition regarding costume and album launching, MNL48 used the Japanese school uniform as the official costume for their first single, which was sung by the top 16 members, also known as the senbatsu, in which Sheki was the Center Girl.

After 3 months, on November 5, 2018, a new batch of senbatsu was announced for their second single Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie. Fortunately, Sheki was still part of the 2nd single senbatsu and remained the center girl together with Ella, Faith, Alyssa, Jem, Gabb, Sela, Abby. Eight members were promoted to be part of the 2nd single senbatsu: Brei, Belle, Coleen, Rans, Lei, Mari, Jan and Kay. [9]

Sheki was also part of MNL48's Gospel Unit [10] together with 5 other girls: Team MII: Faith Shanrae Santiago, Francinne Rifol, Shekinah Arzaga and Team NIV: Aubrey Binuya, Aubrey Ysabelle Delos Reyes, Jhona Alyanah Padillo [10] for their Christmas Single Amazing Grace which was released on January 21, 2018.
