Shrinking the Treehorns[1] is an upcoming 2023 computer-animated musical adventure comedy film based on children's book of the same name by Florence Parry Heide. Produced by Imagine Entertainment and Animal Logic, with Netflix distributing, the film is directed by Ron Howard in his animated directorial debut.

Shrinking the Treehorns is scheduled to be released in the United States by Netflix.

Premise[edit]

Edward Gorey's iconic illustrations are reimagined in this timeless, animated holiday musical adventure. New York City has never seemed so big as when its biggest family is shrunk to the size of action figures and must navigate its snow covered streets on Christmas Eve to find the cure. As the Treehorns journey past the iconic sites of New York City they will come to learn that the family that shrinks together, stays together.

Development[edit]

On June 20, 2019, it was announced that Ron Howard will directed first animated film as Imagine Entertainment. The animation would be done by Animal Logic and distributed by Paramount Pictures under its Paramount Animation label.[2] The film was bought by Netflix on May 16, 2022.[3]

Release[edit]

Shrinking the Treehorns was scheduled to be released in the United States on November 10, 2023.[4] However, after being bought by Netflix, it was taken off the schedule.
