The Silent Book Contest – Gianni De Conno Award is the first international competition dedicated to silent books (picture books without words), with the first awards made in 2014.
The idea for this contest originally came from Italian artist Gianni De Conno , and since 2018 the prize has been named in his honour. A new category – the Silent Book Contest Junior – was introduced in 2020. The winners receive prize money as an advance for copyright with a publishing agreement. The winning books are published by Carthusa Edizioni. They are displayed annually at the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
