Smiley Children Society is an Indian Non-governmental organization.
Today its head office is located in Mandapeta, Smiley as the first INGO from Mandapeta. Smiley's Current Strategy aims to "build International[1] momentum for social, economic driven by people living poverty and exclusion".
Emergencies and humanitarian aid[edit]
As is has established relationships with communities and other NGOs[2] in India that are prone to ecological events, Smiley Children Society is often able to respond quickly to emergencies. Notable crises and responses have included flood victims in Amalapuram, P. Gannavaram [3][4]
Child sponsorship[edit]
Child sponsorship is one of Smiley Children Society's primary sources of income. Donors sponsor an individual child[5] from a community in a developing country and receive regular updates about the child's progress and development.
Sponsorship funds support the child's whole community, "so children have a healthy and safe place to live and grow up." This support takes the form of providing clean water[6], healthcare, agricultural programmes, education canters in areas where schools are not available, and community income generation schemes[7]
Ongoing initiatives[edit]
For Children: Children's orphanage.[8] Distribution of Educational Material,[9] text and notebooks, Uniforms to the economically disadvantaged poor students Nutritious mid-day meals supported by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. For Private school merit students, a Sponsorship of school fee as Corporate social responsibility[10] by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation & Junior Chamber International providing other needs to the rescued and bright students belonging to poor families.[11][12][13]
For Old Age: Distribution of Medicine & Monthly Medical checkups at Public hospital to the hapless elderly single poor people[14] at all Four[15]-day care centers, Free Blankets to Poor Prog (Yearly Once)[16]
For Widows: Skill development including Fashion Design, sanitary pads preparation,[17] tailoring training Collaborating with other NGO Swarnandhra & Lions Club [18]to the Economically disadvantaged Women rescued working mothers from in hazardous jobs.[19]
