Soso Paichadze (Georgian: სოსო პაიჭაძე; 21 August 1943 – 30 August 1994) was a Georgian writer and translator.[1]

Biography[edit]

Paichadze was born in 1943 in Batumi in western Georgia. He graduated in 1965 with a degree in Georgian language and literature at Tbilisi State University. He worked in the film studio Georgia-Film as an assistant director, on the first channel of Georgian TV as an editor of literary programs, in the Literary magazine Mnatobi as deputy editor-in-chief.

His short story The Fisher (მეთევზე) was published in 1970. This was followed by his most important novellas The Last Substitute Player (უკანასკნელი დუბლი, 1973), Where Did You Fall To? (სადაით დაეცი, 1995). He died in 1994 in Tbilisi.

Soso Paitchadze's short novels have been translated into German, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, and Serbo-Croat.
