Starvation (Arabic: جوع)[1] is the 13th novel by Egyptian novelist Mohammed Al-Bsatee.[2] The novel was published in 2007 by Dar Al-adab in Lebanon. The novel has translated into three languages French, German,[3] and English. It was entered into the finals of the 2009 Booker international prize for Arabic fiction.[citation needed]
About the novel[edit]
The novel events it is all about the Egyptian country villages that suffering from poverty and hunger, also danger diseases. Through this story Mohammed’s tries to show a very clear reflective picture of what this country is suffering from the very bad environment in which it suitable for the spread of ignorance and superstition. This novel dose not only focus on the hunger[4] bounders, but also includes all kinds of moral hunger as well the material hunger. It equally applies to all of the village families, especially “Zaghloul” family.
