Steph is an Investigative Journalist and TV Executive Producer specializing in creating compelling true crime and justice content across all platforms, with an emphasis on missing persons cases, unsolved murders, cold cases, international and high profile crimes and breaking news coverage.[citation needed]
Steph began his career at Court TV, producing true-crime documentaries, before moving into Daytime programming, featuring producing national live trial coverage where he was in the courtroom daily overseeing all aspects of media logistics and editorial accuracy of live coverage. Following. Watts developed and produced “Nancy Grace” for HLN and “On The Record” with Greta Van Susteren for Fox News.[citation needed]
As a news producer and reporter, Steph has created exclusive news content for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News HLN and CNN across all platforms.[citation needed]
Steph produced, and his investigative work were featured in; JonBenet Ramsey and Casey Anthony episodes of ID’s highest rated series, American Murder Mystery, ID’s Vanity Fair Confidential; Natalee Holloway: Lost in Paradise, CNN’s 3-part series Buried Secrets, Who Murdered the McStay Family? and A&E’s Dead Man Talking, where Watts presented glaring errors in the case against death row inmate Rodney Reed forcing the State to stay Reed’s execution and examine new evidence presented in the 3-hour documentary.[citation needed]
Steph also produced and appeared in Oxygen’s Notorious discussing the Drew Peterson Case, where his work as an investigative journalist was instrumental in uncovering documents that triggered the re-classification Drew Peterson’s 3rd wife, Kathleen Savio’s death from an accident to a homicide. Watts witnessed and reported on her post-exhumation autopsy and Peterson was eventually tried and convicted for her murder. In addition produced a 2-hour special on Serial Killers Ted Bundy and Eileen Warnos. Steph was also a Special Correspondent for the syndicated crime TV show, Crime Watch Daily.[citation needed]
Steph currently[when?] creates content for A&E, Investigation Discovery (ID), Oxygen, Lifetime and Reelz. Watts created and executive-produced “The Verdict” a pilot project for Oxygen, Casey Anthony Parents Speak for A&E, Aaron Hernandez for Reelz and is currently[when?] wrapping production on Suspicious Minds for ID[citation needed]
Steph has established a long and trusting relationship with national law enforcement agencies, members of the legal community, crime survivors, victims families and politicians. With a firm understanding of the law and justice system, Steph is a specialist in crime and justice programming across all platforms and a known voice for the missing, murdered and misunderstood.[citation needed]
