Swami Sadanand Saraswati is a Hindu religious leader and current Shankaracharya of Dwarka Sharada Math, an important Hindu monastery and one among four amnaya Shankaracharya mathas in Adavita Vedanta tradition established by Adi Shankara.[1]
He was given dandi sannyasa by then Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati and was given the charge of maintenance of Dwarka Math. After the death of Swami Swaroopanand, Sadanand became shankracharya of Dwarka Math.[2]
Personal life[edit]
He was born in a Brahmin family of Bargi Village to Pandit Vidyadhar Awasthi, a vaidya and farmer and Maankunwarbai, a housewife in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. He is youngest among seven brother and sisters.[3]
He left his home at the age of 12 after a small argument in school when he was in class 8th fearing the heat of the family over his fight with classmate. He came in contact with Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati in 1970 and began his studies of Vedanta and religious texts under the guidance of his new guru.[3] He eventually became the Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth after the death of his guru.
