Team 50
"Team 50" is a Swedish civil air group founded in 2012 by members from F6 Flygklubb, Ärna Flygklubb, and Västerås Flygmuseum.[1] The group flies with five Saab 91 Safir aircraft, both individually and in group formations. The Saab Safir aircraft was used by the Swedish Air Force as a training, transport, and reconnaissance aircraft between 1946 and 1992.[2] The aircraft used by Team 50 are both B (SK 50B) and C versions (SK 50C) of the plane. The aircraft are historically painted and marked as they once looked when they were used within the Swedish Air Force.
Activities
Team 50 frequently takes part in air shows around Sweden. In June 2020, the team flew in formation over Stockholm and Gothenburg to honor the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.[3][4] Because the team is made up of mostly older retired air force personnel, Swedish media noted that their actions reflected the members being part of the "at-risk" group.[5]. In August 2022, the team flew various formations over Uppsala to participate in the Swedish Armed Forces airshow. [6] The group also maintains a Youtube channel showcasing their Saab Safir flights. [7]
