Tetiana Mitchenko (Ukrainian: Тетяна Євгенівна Мітченко, romanized: Tetiana Yevhenivna Mitchenko; born 25 December 1951) is a Ukrainian specialist in the field of water treatment. Doctor of Sciences in Technical Sciences (1996), Professor (2015).

Biography[edit]

Tetiana Mitchenko obtained Master of Science Degree in Technical Science in 1974. She graduated from Department of electrochemical technology, Chemical Technology Faculty of National Technical University of Ukraine. After that she had worked as a senior scientific associate in laboratory of ecology, Scientific institute of Chlorine Industry before 1996[1]. She received a degree of Candidate of Technical Science (equivalent to PhD) in 1981. Thesis was “Investigation of the process and technology development on deep removal of cadmium from wastewater applying inorganic sorbents”.

Mitchenko started entrepreneurial activity as founder and CEO of the water purification system manufacturer ECOSOFT Ltd in1991[2] and still remains in her position. In 1996, she became awarded the degree of Doctor in Technical Science with thesis: “Intensification of the sorption processes for removal of metal micropollutants from process water and industrial effluent”[3]. She had assumed the position of the Chair of The Laboratory of Ion Exchange and Adsorption, Chemical Technology Department of National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky KPI” since 1996. From that year to 2014 Mitchenko was consulting of The Dow Chemical Company of the Water Solutions branch. In 2001, she became a Editor-in-Chief of the journal «Water and water purification technologies» and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal «Water and water purification technologies. Scientific and technical news»[4] and still remains in her position.

In 2010, Tetiana Mitchenko became a President of community organization «Ukrainian Water Association WaterNet». The All-Ukrainian Junior Water Prize was instituted during her tenure. It is the national qualifying event of the international competition "Stockholm Junior Water Prize" organized with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine. The competition is still run every year[5]. She continued to take care of science and became awarded the degree of Professor of Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Water Treatment, and General Chemical Technology of Igor Sikorsky KPI, Faculty of Chemical Technology in 2015.

Mitchenko was chosen by a member of the jury board for the "Environment" section of the UKRSIBBANK grant competition[6][7] in 2018. Since 2021, she is the founder and Head of Innovative Water technologies center, Chemical Technology Department of Igor Sikorsky KPI, Faculty of Chemical Technology.[8]
