"The News" is the thirty-ninth episode in the fifth season of The Amazing World of Gumball, and the 195th episode overall. It originally aired on Cartoon Network in the United States, on November 10, 2017, after airing in Africa, on July 23, 2017. In this episode, Gumball and Darwin decide to watch Elmore's news, which newscaster Kip Schlezinger presents on Channel 6.

Plot[edit]
After deciding to watch TV, Gumball and Darwin decide to watch the news after newscaster Kip Schlezinger catches their attention.
The first story has to do with what appears to be a robbery at Joyful Burger, where actually it's just police officers eating at the burger joint. Right after, a report on the Watterson's, where Gumball reveals he set his house on fire after seeing a spider. Next, an oversees section, where an interview reveals an alpaca was sent to the G8 Summit. The following stories include, a scientist saying we shouldn't be scared of science, Elmore's toilets going on strike, and Daisy the Donkey experiencing an on-set meltdown.
Shortly after, Kip presents a report on the stock market crashing, in the form of a joyful song. Kip then tells the viewers he has nothing to report and spends several minutes trying to waste time. Finally, Kip goes to Barry for sports, who just yells "SPORTS!" and a weatherman for the weather, who Kip makes fun of for wearing green in-front of a green screen. The episode ends with Kip signing us off, and a make-up artist angering Kip.

On its original broadcast, the episode was viewed by 0.91 million people.[1]
In 2020, "The News" was ranked 240th out of the 240 total The Amazing World of Gumball episodes, marking it as the worst episode of the series. The episode had a rating of 5.61/10, based on 38 reviews.[2]
