The Set Collection, also known as The Set Hotels[1][2], is a hotel and resort organisation, offering representation and business services to independent hotels globally. A subsidiary of the Israeli Alrov Group (TASE: ALRO[3]), The Set Collection portfolio spans across multiple destinations in Europe, the Middle East.
History
In 2008, the Alrov Group acquired the building of the former Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. Also in 2008, the group purchased London's Café Royal[4] from the Crown Estate as part of a wider project surrounding the Quadrant redevelopment. Two years later, the group also acquired the Hotel Lutetia[5][6][7] in Paris. Renovations within each property began, overseen by separate architects and designers for each property; Piero Lissoni, David Chipperfield Architects and Jean-Michel Wilmotte, respectively. An estimated €157 million was reportedly invested into the redevelopment of the Conservatorium.[8]
Early History
In 2011, the Alrov Group announced the formation of a new subsidiary, The Set Hotels, which would comprise of the acquired properties upon their opening, with Alrov Luxury Hotels CEO Georgi Akirov overseeing operations. Amsterdam's Conservatorium was the inaugural property; the Café Royal and Lutetia followed in 2012 and 2018, respectively. Each property was reintroduced with dedicated space for a holistic wellbeing brand, Akasha.
Rebranding & Expansion
The Set Hotels[9][10] underwent a soft rebrand in the spring of 2021, and began formally operating as The Set Collection[11]. Following a restructure of the business, operations were splintered into two models; the original properties would continue to be owned by The Set Collection, whilst another branch would solely focus on the representation of independent hotels and resorts worldwide. The Alrov Group's Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem, part of the Mamilla Mall, was announced to have joined the group's portfolio upon its reintroduction, becoming the company's first property in the Middle East.
Logo
The brand's logo was designed to reflect the core values and mission of The Set Collection. Representing different pillars of art[12], the logo references seven separate artforms - sculpture, dance, literature, film, painting, architecture, and music.
