Timothy K. Bonnell Jr. is an American insurance broker and pilot specializing in aviation insurance. He is the founder of Aeris Insurance Solutions, based in Overland Park, Kansas. Bonnell is also the host of the Aviation Insurance Podcast, a series focused on risk management and insurance issues relevant to the general aviation industry. He has written several educational guides on aviation insurance and contributed to publications such as General Aviation News and Agricultural Aviation magazine.[1]
Early life and education
Bonnell was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He is the son of Timothy K. Bonnell Sr., a pioneer in aviation insurance who founded Professional Insurance Management (PIM) in 1982. Tim Sr. also served as president of the Kansas Aviation Museum and the Aviation Insurance Association (AIA).
Bonnell Jr. represents the third generation of pilots in his family and the second generation in aviation insurance. He earned his private pilot’s license in 2000 and holds an instrument rating. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in vocal performance.
Career
Aeris Insurance Solutions
Bonnell began working in aviation insurance in 2000, eventually founding Aeris Insurance Solutions in 2018. The agency serves general aviation operators, aircraft owners, flight schools, agricultural aviation businesses, and advanced air mobility (AAM) ventures. Aeris is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
Bonnell holds the professional designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Aviation Insurance Professional (CAIP).

He is married and has children. Bonnell is an advocate for Down syndrome awareness, inspired by his personal experience as a parent of a child with Trisomy 21. He and his family have participated in campaigns such as Step Up for Down Syndrome hosted by Down Syndrome Innovations.
He is an avid fan of Kansas City sports teams, including the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Sporting Kansas City.
