Tomei Powered USA Inc.(東名パワードUSA) is a manufacturer of automotive tuning parts headquartered in Lake Forest, California, United States[1].A company that provides high-quality car tuning parts under the "TOMEI" brand.[2][3]

The company is 100% owned by Axesta Co., Ltd. [ja](アゼスタ), a Japanese company established by Akira Sasaki, who was formerly president and CEO of Tomei Powered Japan Inc. [ja].[4]

It owns 100% of the stock of Tomei Powered U.S.A. Inc., which is headquartered in the United States, and sells parts under the brand name "TOMEI" as Tomei Powered U.S.A.

In line with the trademark registrations by both companies, the same products are sold globally under the brand name "R.S.E." in Japan, Asia, and Australia, and under the brand name "TOMEI" in other countries in North America, Central and South America, Europe, and Africa[1].

History[edit]

Tomei Powered USA Inc. was originally established in October 2006 as a US subsidiary of the Japanese company Tomei Powered Japan Inc.[5] The person involved in the establishment was Eiji Mihara, who joined Tomei Powered Japan Inc. in 1994 and experienced various positions. In 2006, when his overseas strategy proposal was recognized, he moved to the US alone and managed all operations from sales to accounting.[5]

Sasaki joined Tomei Motors Japan Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Tomei Powered Japan Inc. in 1987, and became CEO in 2003, laying the foundations for the Japanese "TOMEI" brand at Tomei Powered Japan Inc.[4]

However, he felt that there were limitations to developing racing parts domestically due to constraints such as Japanese vehicle inspections and regulations, so in February 2014 he left Tomei Powered Japan Inc. with Mihara to establish Axesta, acquired all shares of Tomei Powered USA Inc., and began developing parts independently.[1][4]
