Tunde Aina is a Nigerian veteran broadcaster, filmmaker, and television audience measurement researcher.[1][2][3] He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of StarTimes Nigeria, also known as the NTA-Star TV Network.[4] In September 2022, he was elected a member of The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, based in New York.[5]

Early Life[edit]

Tunde Aina grew up in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, and attended the Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger State, Nigeria. He later attended De Montfort University in Leicester, where he studied for a Masters of Science in Information Technology. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in information engineering.[6]

He also has a minor in television audience measurement from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China.[3]

Career[edit]

Tunde Aina began his career as a technical Officer at the Nigeria Television Authority in Minna in 1996.

In 2016, he assumed the position of the Chief Operating Officer of StarTimes Nig.ria, Tunde Aina managed the setup and operations of a local content production facility and recruited a team to keep it running.[7] The tproducedt of several original TV series and reality s,show some of which are Alagbara, Sparadiand se, Ile Alayo.[8]

Research[edit]

Tunde Aina is currently pursuing research into Television Audience Measurement, his first published paper in which he was the lead author is titled "Field tests of two-way television audience measurement system."[3] The paper was presented at the 2014 IEEE international symposium on broadband multimedia systems and Broadcasting in Beijing, China, and published in IEEE Explore journal.[3]

He also co-authored a paper in the Journal of Social Media in Society titled "Modeling Social Television Analytics and Twitter-Enabled Audience Engagement–A Study of Cross-Platform Television Audience in Nigeria."[6]

Movie Production[edit]

Tunde Aina was the executive producer and producer of "The Rise of Igbinogun," an epic Nigerian film. He was the producer and sound supervisor of the award-winning Underbelly, directed by Toka McBaror.[9]

Underbelly was screened at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2022[10] and the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) 2022.[11] In addition, Underbelly got three nominations and won the award for Best Achievement In Production Design at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2022.[12][13]
