Tunde Ope-Davies(formerly Opeibi) is a Nigerian Professor of English, Digital Cultures and Discuss studies at the University of Lagos. He is the founder and Director, Centre for Digital Humanities, University of Lagos (CEDHUL).[1]

Education and fellowships[edit]

Tunde Ope-Davies earned his major academic doctoral degrees from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and was a recipient of the University of Lagos Best Student's Scholarship award and Lever Brothers’ Prizes. At the postdoctoral level, he won the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's Georg Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers in Germany,[2] the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the United Kingdom, the Visiting Fellowship of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and a Visiting DAAD Scholarship in Digital Humanities in Germany.[3]

Professional and administrative career[edit]

He is the founding president of the Digital Humanities Association of Nigeria (DHAN),[4][5] and a former Executive Member on the Board of the Global Outlook for Digital Humanities (GO::DH). He was once a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Speech & Communication.[6] He is the current chair of the Department of English, University of Lagos[7],[8] and a member of the Governing Council of Anchor University, Lagos.[9]

Grants, honours and recognitions[edit]

Professor Ope-Davies is a Grantee of the Volkswagen Foundation, Germany[10] and TETFund, Nigeria and has also held visiting positions at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, Westminster University, London, UK, and Leipzig University, Germany. His current Digital Humanities research projects include the Corpus of Nigeria New Media Discourse in English (CONNMDE), Digital Political Discourse Nigeria Corpus (DPDNC), LitTech: Lagos.
