Udit Kulshrestha (born 1977), is an Indian Photographer [1] and Artist [2] noted for his Portraiture, Photojournalism and photography based art [3] and is based out of New Delhi. His works have been published in Bloomberg [4], Time [5], Washington Post, The New Yorker, South China Morning Post [6], BBC [7], Vanity Fair, Wall Street Journal and several other major publications around the globe [8] His photo journalistic essays revolve around the subjects of Culture[9] traditions and Religion, ethnic violence in Conflict[10] geographies on land based issues in under-reported geographies in India specifically the North East India [11] etc. His assignments are about; Corporate Leadership[12] and political leadership Portraits, Reportage on conflict[13] in Bodoland, industrial manufacturing and not for profit Photography. He's the author of a photobook titled Darwaze [14] [15]
Early life and work[edit]
Born in Rajkot, Gujarat, India, [16] an army officer's son, Udit Kulshrestha spent his childhood travelling the length and breadth of the country.[17] He has contributed to Indian publications like Forbes, Sunday Guardian, The Caravan , Femina, and Bloomberg Quint. He was noted as an emerging photographer by Wonderwall [18], a New Delhi photography based art gallery in 2008 and has been part of their repertoire of artists since then participating in several art exhibitions including the India Art Fair from 2011-2018. Since 2013, he worked as an on-contract photographer for Bloomberg L.P. and has documented the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Swearing-in ceremony in 2014.
His Advertising work has been nominated for One Show Awards and his editorial work has received a honorable mention in the photoessay category by Media Foundation of India.
