Ujjwal Maulik[1] is an Indian computer scientist and a professor. He is also the former Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal India. He also held the position of the Principal-in-charge and the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at the Kalayni Government Engineering College. Dr. Maulik is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship during 2010, 2011 and 2012; and was Senior Associate of ICTP, Italy during 2012-2018. He is the Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE), the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His research interests include data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, and the Internet of things. His other interest include sports and classical music.
Education and Research
Dr. Maulik completed Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal India in 1997. He did M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering with Honors from Jadavpur University in 1992 and B. Tech in Computer Science & Technology with Honors from Calcutta University, Rajabazar Science College in 1989. He also completed B. Sc. in Physics Honors from Calcutta University in 1986. He passed Class X and XII from Nabadwip Bakultala High School, Nabadwip and Rahara Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara during 1981 and 1983 respectively. Dr. Maulik did his Post Doctoral research in Univ. of New South Wales, Australia in 1999 and Univ. of Texas, Arlington, USA in 2001. As an Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher, he has worked in Germany Cancer Research Cneter (DKFZ) in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He was a Senior Associate of International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy during 2012-2018.
