Universal College Lahore (UCL), formerly named University College Lahore, is an institute of higher education in Lahore, Pakistan. It offers programs including GCE A Levels, BSc in Economics, Management, Accounting & Finance, Information Technology and Business Administration as well as Bachelors in Law LLB of University of London International Programmes.

It recently began the Bar Transfer Test in connection with the BPP University whereby qualified lawyers in Pakistan prepare for Bar Exams in Pakistan and qualify as a barrister of England and Wales after appearing in exams in the UK. It also offers the Diplomas in Economics, Diploma in Social Sciences and the Diploma in Laws programme. Recently it has undertaken an agreement with the University of London's LSE to teach for the International Foundation Programme.[1] The programmes that are offered are affiliated either with the University of London.[2] or the Government College University, Lahore.[3]

Campus[edit]

The campus is located in the suburb of Lahore, 1.5 km from Thokar Niaz Baig, on Raiwind Road. It was built in 1994.

Debate club[edit]

UCL holds international debating competitions with teams from India and other countries. It went to Bangalore, India and secured the first four positions in the competition including 'Best Speaker of the Championship'.[4] UCL hosted its 13th Annual and 5th International Shahjiwana Debating Championship 2008 on Friday, 29 February 2008.[5]

Drama club[edit]

The Drama Club of UCL now UCDS (University College Dramatics Society) is one of the biggest society in UCL. The society have won several awards in competitions. Their most acclaimed plays includes Murder At Fountain House, Backstage, Le Cirque de L'amour, Teesri Jins. Some best actors are Alishan Bin Sohail, Ahmed Mian, Hamza Hussain, Faizan Liaqat, Asfand Mir, Hiba Tariq, Anmol Zahra, Asad Bokhari, Rayed Saleem, Hamza Mustafa and Mariam Sana.

Student union[edit]

The Student Union is made up of all the students who participate and win in the UCL elections.

Music Society[edit]

The Music Society arranges music competitions and gigs, promoting the music talent in UCL.
