Vaishali Neotia is an engineer, entrepreneur and speaker. She is most known as CEO and Cofounder of Metxius, a technology company based out of Hyderabad india. The company specialises in Augmented and virtual reality for enterprises and is apart of Boeing HorizonX portfolio startup and in Facebook's India Innovation Hub.[1]

Early life and Education[edit]

Neotia was born in Kolkata India, with her family having roots in Rajasthan, raised by her grandparents and parents. Neotia credits her upbringing for giving her the freedom to choose the science and engineering for her studies.[2]

In 2006, Neotia went to Osmania University to gain her Bachelors Degree in Engineering, it was during this time Neotia and her partner Hasan Khan undertook a project to develop a Facebook application on the FIFA world cup. During 2010, Neotia graduated from Osmania University with plans to start her own business with her partner Hasan Khan.[2]

Career[edit]

In February 2011, Neotia and her partner Hasan Khan founded Merxius. The team started working out of a friend's house building applications for other organisations, and shortly after moved into office space within Kolkata and began hiring staff.[2] It was during this time that Neotia and Khan began to work with augmented reality although the technology was not as prevalent in India. At this time the duo created their first company product "Marmo", an industrial augmented reality framework that aided in machine maintenance operations.[3]

In 2014, Neotia and Khan ventured into virtual reality with their company product "RealSim" a industry simulator for real estate markets to aid in the visualisation and customisation of real estate floor plans to clientele. Neotia and khan later developed this product into the "RealSim editor" or RED, which takes any 3D model and converts the model into a virtual reality model. During 2019 the technology was being tested for the Indian Armed Forces to create a training module for engine maintenance.[4][3][5]

During 2018, Neotia and Khan led Merxius into the Boeing HorizionX India innovation Challenge, in which the company was named one of the three winners, due to this Boeing invested in the organisation.[2]

In March 2022, Neotia took part as a panellist in India's first Social Impact Idea Fest For Women Entrepreneurs named The winged Challenge. The fest organised by The Empathy Project an incubation programme for women social entrepreneurs took place on March 20th 2022, and consisted of a list of shortlisted women entrepreneurs to present theyre ideas. The winner of the challenge won a prize of 1 lakh rupees and gain benifits from STEP's partners for startup and entry into STEP's incubation programme.[6]

Recognition[edit]

In April 2018, Neotia was awarded a Achievers Award by the Federation of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The award was presented to 9 women recognised for path breaking business ideas within their industry.[7]

On December 2019, Neotia was awarded an Exceptional Woman of Excellence award from the Woman economic Forum.[8]

In March 2021, Neotia was selected as being one of the top 100 global female leaders by the Global council for the promotion of International Trade (GCPIT).[9]
