Verity Systems is a data security firm dealing with the manufacture, supply, and maintenance of equipment for erasing and destroying data storage devices mainly called degaussers and crushers.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The company focuses on magnetic storage devices but also has a product for destroying solid-state drives.[7][8] Verity Systems is also sometimes called VS Security Products, thus the acronym VSSP. Verity Systems was founded in 1985. It is now headquartered in both the UK and in the USA; Aldershot, U.K., and Placerville USA respectively. Over the years, Verity Systems has grown into a manufacturer and supplier of hard drive degaussers and magnetic tape erasers with a global reach.[9]
Cybersecurity Vigilance[edit]
Cybersecurity is a rising global threat that Verity Systems keeps track of.[10][11] The company also issues instant and periodic assessments as well as warnings about cybersecurity threats at various levels including national levels.[12][13] Its monitoring and warning system produces accurate and timely warnings that have helped many individuals and organizations avoid losses they would have suffered.[14] Verity Systems issues their statements through press conferences and in writing on a Verity Systems company website’s blog among others.[15]
In 2020, following a wave of increased cybersecurity attacks and data breaches in India, Verity Systems worked with some of the leading technology firms as well as government agencies to reduce the surge in data breaches.[16] At the time, the government of India was considering new data protection laws while companies had been looking at secure data erasure solutions. Verity Systems entered collaborations that allowed the company to inform industry players about proper data security practices and also about securely erasing data from hard drives and servers that often contained sensitive information ranging from bank records to credit card numbers and other personal records.
Worldwide Dealer Network[edit]
To reach its clients across the world, Verity Systems relies on a network of both exclusive and non-exclusive dealers spread out in various locations around the globe. Some of the dealers that are exclusive to Verity Systems only deal in the sale and servicing of Verity Systems products, while others may work with other partners and their products in addition to the Verity Systems products they sell and service.[17] Dealers are located in Canada, UK, Netherlands, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Australia, France, Singapore, Germany, India, Indonesia, Philippines, and Pakistan. The Verity Systems dealer in France services the countries of France, Belgium, and other European countries that do not have a dealer in them.
Products[edit]
Verity Systems has various products it manufactures and sells. They range from degaussers to crushers.[18][19] Verity Systems degaussers achieve fast degaussing speeds and are the most used by hospitals, data storage companies, financial services providers, radio and television broadcasters, computer departments, defense organizations, universities, and emergency services providers among others. Verity Systems has a large market share in the data erasure and disk drive destroyer industry with its products due to a combination of factors including but not limited to product innovation, high standards of production, quality control during manufacture, and application of maximum level of security achievable in product design and manufacture. These factors, especially innovation, led to Verity Systems becoming the developer of the Rotating Coil Technique and Pulse Technology methods of data erasure. The two methods are used today in all the Verity Systems state-of-the-art degaussers.
Verity Systems' Products' Government Approval[edit]
A number of products by Verity Systems are approved by various governments and government bodies. Most notable is the Verity SV91M Degausser that is approved by NATO.[20] In the USA, the NSA (National Security Agency) and the CSS (Central Security Service) have repeatedly listed several degaussers and disk crushers made by Verity Systems as approved for use in the NSA/CSS Policy Manual 9-12 (Storage Device Sanitization and Destruction Manual) that they publish periodically.[21] PoliceMag, a publisher of law enforcement solutions, has featured the Verity Systems’ Meteor EC duplicator as a one-touch digital imagery transfer solution in its online publication.[22] The Meteor EC allows the secure transfer of digital evidence from video memory cards and digital cameras to multiple DVDs and CDs without a computer having to be used. It is compatible with erasable memory devices including SD cards, MMC cards, compact flash, and USB flash drives.
