World Wide Films, (WWF Distributions) founded by Brijeesh Mohamed with his partners and co-founder Noufal Ahamed, is an Indian film production and distribution company. WWF was previously known as Bcinemas (from 2015 to 2018).

Pioneering in independent film distribution in the GCC, World Wide Films has become one of the big names in the entertainment industry in the GCC and continues to span across the world. WWF was formed with a vision to bring Indian cinema all around the world. Within the two-year span of operation, World Wide Films has released more than thirty-five movies in the GCC, including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu movies. One of the biggest achievements of WWF was the record-breaking release of the movie Odiyan. Odiyan was released with more than 1000 shows per day in the GCC, setting the record for the biggest release of an Indian film. Odiyan was also released by WWF in countries including United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, France, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Africa, Japan, and Switzerland.

The first production venture of World Wide Films was Kohinoor (2015 film) in 2015, teaming up with Asif Ali (actor). Though Kohinoor (2015 film) received a mixed review, its promotion strategies were well recognised and commendable.

The first in-house production of World Wide Films was Adam Joan starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, followed by Orayiram Kinakkalal starring Biju Menon. Adam Joan turned out to be a super hit which was also critically well acclaimed.

History

Beginning with the small steps of co-producing numerous Malayalam films, WWF started to get into mainstream production and distribution of Malayalam films. WWF has become well established as a distribution platform in India and the Middle East, associating with Bollywood, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil film industries. Distributing films across the Middle East in various centres without a middleman created a new wave which enhanced the reach of Indian film throughout the GCC. The movement by WWF brought about a revolution in the entertainment industry of the GCC.

Stepping into GCC

The first production venture of WWF, Kohinoor (2015 film), turned out to be a success and moved on to release the film in the GCC region. Getting into the GCC entertainment industry was, in fact, an uphill battle. WWF made an agreement with the company which distributed films in the GCC, but when the film was all set to release, it became clear that the agreement was merely on paper. Because of the monopoly, the film couldn’t be taken directly to the theatres. During pre-production of Adam Joan, the founders of WWF tried to release a few films in the GCC but met restrictions. Over 3.5 million Keralite audiences in the GCC were not catered to promptly with Malayalam films or any other films. A situation of hoarding prevailed in the Film and Entertainment industry of the GCC. WWF had to struggle to bring this to the notice of Government officials in the GCC. In a situation where no other companies in the world could enter into independent film distribution in the GCC, WWF broke the monopoly and started distributing films all over the GCC. Aanandam was the first movie released by WWF at Vox Cinemas in Dubai and continued to expand the distribution network, gaining footholds in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. In India, WWF has pitched into Bollywood by releasing Raees in South India with the record of the largest number of theatre releases of a Hindi film.

Vision

With a strong foothold in the GCC, WWF envisions taking up distribution of Indian films worldwide. Background work has already been started for film distribution in United States, Canada, and Australia, and procedures for this have already been completed in Europe and Australia. Expanding the horizon of film production, WWF is looking forward to entering the Bollywood industry.

Odiyan a milestone

Odiyan, the most anticipated Malayalam movie, was a major milestone in the journey of WWF. Odiyan was released with more than 1000 shows per day in the GCC, setting the record for the biggest release of an Indian film. Apart from the GCC countries, Odiyan was released in countries including United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, France, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Africa, Japan, and Switzerland.
