A fabless semiconductor company focuses on wire saving implementing powerline communication transceivers that combine data protocols (UART, LIN-bus, SPI, I2C, CAN-bus) over power lines.

Based on its expertise in digital communication over noisy channels, Yamar provides unique algorithms for noise-robust communication implemented in semiconductors devices. The ICs are used for Vehicle networks, Lighting, Agriculture machinery, Aerospace, Energy management, and more.

History[edit]

  • 2000 - Released the first generation powerline transceiver - QDC10.
  • 2004 - Participated in EU FP6 - SPARC. The company developedd communication over power line between Truck and Trailer that enabled redundant CAN link over the existing ISO standardized power cable connecting the truck and trailer. In addition, the trailer’s back-lights operated by the DC-BUS.
  • 2008 - Participated in EU FP7 - SCARLETT. The company developed a power line communication link between avionic modules over noisy DC power lines and demonstrated a power line smoke detectors network replacing eight CAN BUS wires with two power lines.
  • 2010 - The company introduced the SIG60 and SIG61 devices for UART communication over power lines.
  • 2014 - Participated in EU FP7 - MPBUS. The company developed modem network for Space launcher, simplifying the communication between the rocket stages.
  • 2017 - An ISO work-group started to define a new physical layer for LIN over power lines based on Yamar’s technology. The standard ISO 17987-8 published on 2019.
  • 2019 - The company released the DCAN500 devices for CAN communication over power lines.
  • 2020 - The company released the DCB1M devices for SPI, UART, I2C communication over power lines.
  • 2021 - The company released the SIG100 and SIG102 devices for LIN/UART communication over power lines.

Products[edit]

The powerline transceiver ICs are divided into two families. The SIG family, byte-oriented transceivers up to 115.2kbit/s, and the DCB family, frame-oriented transceivers up to 1.4Mbit/s with built-in CSMA and arbitration mechanism.
