Many historians propose that the Jayagowda great grandson of Rana Bhairave Gowda founded the Yelhankanadu Prabhus in 1418. The Yelahankanadu Prabhus were Gowdas or tillers of the land.
The title of Yelahanka Nadaprabhu was derived from the Vijayanagara kings. They ruled much of the Bangalore district and was the subordinate of the Vijayanagara Empire and became independent in 1638.Finally in 1728, the province merged into Mysore state.
