Youthistaan is a media and news organisation that was founded in early 2017.[2][3] This website mainly focus on articles related to India. Youthistaan had announced the launch of all in one news app in late 2021.[4][5]
Business model[edit]
Youthistaan publications consist of user-generated content, where citizens play the role of journalists and share news, opinion, analysis, event details etc. The content isn't published directly as in a blog or social media platform, but is instead screened by the inhouse editorial team.[6] Revenue is generated primarily through advertisement served with the content. As of 2022, Youthistaan has also started publishing online through application.[7]
Organisation[edit]
The Youthistaan staff's are segregated into two divisions; the editorial team and the distribution team. In an article of the Columbia Journalism Review, the segregation was explained as the result of caution associated with the "credibility of digital media" prevalent among the former print medium journalists who constituted the editorial team of the new publication.[8] The distribution team of the publication is staffed with analysts of social media and search result algorithm who manage the distribution assets of the publication.
Recognition[edit]
Youthistaan was awarded a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best broadcast-affiliated website.[9]
In November 2021, Youthistaan was selected by Google as part of their first ever cohort of Google News Initiative in India.[10][11][12]
Content[edit]
Youthistaan's content is procured from contracted, freelance and occasional writers. Youthistaan claims to publish around 50 articles every day.[13]
