Yuta Nakamoto (born October 26, 1995) is a Japanese singer from Osaka, Japan. He is one of the members of NCT, and one of the main dancers and vocalists of its sub-unit NCT 127. He is also occasionally featured in NCT U. Yuta was accepted at the SM Global Audition 2012 in Japan. He passed the audition, making it to SM Rookies on December 25, 2013. He trained for 3 years. Yuta debuted on July 10, 2016 as a member of NCT 127 with their mini-album, NCT #127.[1]

Early Life, Debut, and Career[edit]

1995-2017: Early years, television work and NCT 127[edit]

Nakamoto was born in Osaka, Japan, on October 26, 1995. Through his childhood and adolescent years, he was an active person. He also used to be a soccer player from around 5 to 16 years of age.[2]

In 2012, when he was 16, Yuta participated in an audition for SM Entertainment that was held in Japan, hidden from his family. [3][4] His family didn't discover that he was auditioning until he passed, and had to move to South Korea. In an interview he said, "My mom was really surprised… then, I saw my dad cry for the first time. I may have been a little lonely because I was going to live away. But I was so focused that I don’t remember much about it. I also didn’t tell my sisters. I was a teenager so I was kind of embarrassed." He continued, "I was in a situation where I didn’t understand Korean at all so before I moved there I studied hard, even sticking Korean words in our bathroom walls." [4]

Yuta joined SM's predebut team, SM Rookies, in December 2013.[3] From August to October 2014, he was part of the EXO 90: 2014 program, [5] where he starred in remakes for "Hope" [6] and "Do You Know." [7]

In July 2015, Yuta was one of the participants of the JTBC Non-Summit program, replacing Takuya Terada as a representative of Japan.[8] He left the program on December 28 after announcing that he wanted to focus on his debut as a singer. [9]

2017-present: NCT 127 and NCT U[edit]

Between 2017-2020, Yuta focused on his activities with NCT 127. The subgroup released its extended play, Limitless, in January 2017.[10] A few months later, another extended play, Cherry Bomb was released in June of that same year, resulting in an increased popularity for NCT 127 and that of Yuta himself. [11] From December 2017 to May 2018, he starred in the program NCT 127: Road to Japan. [12]
