Albania began to participate at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1993, and has competed since then.[1]

History[edit]

Albania could participate in the Mathematical Olympiad before 1993,[2] but International Mathematical Olympiad was decided for all European communist countries,[3] except Albania, which was also a communist country.[4] Albanian students have far better results in geometry than in other fields.[5] In 2016, Albania organized the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad.[6][7] Since 2020, a joint Olympiad between Kosovo and Albania is organized.[8]

In Albania, half of the participants are boys and the other half are girls.[9]

Albania is one of the countries which competes at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad.[10][11] Albania has 2 silver medals, 8 bronze medals and 35 honourable mentions.
