Amrita Jash is an Indian Sinologist. She is currently associated with Centre for Land Warfare Studies, New Delhi as an associate fellow.[1]

Jash is a political writer and commentator in international media on China. She has been regularly quoted in China Central Television,[2] Observer Research Foundation,[3] and The Philadelphia Trumpet. And, published in APSS Policy Forum by Asia & the Pacific Policy Society,[4] China-India Brief by Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy,[5] China Focus by UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy,[6] E-International Relations,[7] Huffington Post,[8] and The Quint.[9]

Early Life & Education[edit]

Jash was born and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal in India. She completed her degree in Bachelor of Arts from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University in 2009. Later she completed her degrees in Master of Arts (in 2011) and Master of Philosophy (in 2013) and Doctor of Philosophy (in 2018) in Chinese studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her doctoral advisor was Srikanth Kondapalli.

Career and Services[edit]

Jash joined the Centre for Land Warfare Studies, New Delhi in 2017 as Associate Fellow and later in 2018, she briefly took over the role of managing editor of CLAWS Journal. From 2013-2014, Jash was a visiting faculty at the Department of Chinese, School of Languages and Literature, Sikkim University.[10]

Jash has a different take on the Chinese Military when her view are being compared with her peers. In February 2019, at the Observer Research Foundation's Roundtable, she emphasized on the recent shift in China's military policy as its "no more win without a fight, but fight and win". But, 2017 China–India border standoff has "caught them by surprise".[11]

Fellowships[edit]

In 2019, Jash joined the Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge as D. C. Pavate Fellow.[12]
