Babatunde A Ikotun

Babatunde A Ikotun (born January 1948) is a Nigerian academic and professor. He is currently vice chancellor of SouthWestern University, a private university in Nigeria.[1]

Early life and Education[edit]

Babatunde Ikotun was born in Zaria, in January 1948. He is an indigenous member of Igbara-Oke, from Ondo State in Nigeria. His secondary school eductaion was at Government College, Ibadan, from 1962 to 1968, where he received his secondary school leaving certificate. He went to London where he earned his PhD from the University of London, between 1972 and 1975.

Works and Achievements[edit]

He started his academic career in 1975 at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, as a lecturer and administrator in various departments like HOD, Dean of Faculty among others. When he was on a two-year sabbatical leave he worked at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), for Shell Petroleum company (SPDC) for two years, and Njala University, Mokonde and Freetown in Sierra Leone for 28 months. Babatunde have written 144 seminal papers and publications. He has also attended various conferences at the local and international level. He is an external assessor for the review of publications by candidates for promotion to professorial chairs in various universities at the local and international level.
