Banggood was founded by Xin Zou in 2006 as a small startup.Banggood slowly grew in prominence.[8]
In Feb, 2009, the Zou and his team registered the company Banggood Network Technology Co., LTD in Guangzhou. On February 23rd 2009, Banggood was approved and establish its company in Baiyun District of Guangzhou.
Since 2014, Banggood has been engaged in e-commerce on eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, Wish, Newegg and other third-party platforms.[4]
In 2014, Banggood created a new website named Yoins which provides trendy clothing, bags and shoes for young women and men at an affordable price. Banggood’s main website did not have a developed female youth fashion audience and Yoins was created to appeal to this market segment.[3]
In 2015, Banggood launched Newchic which also focuses on young fashion. Compared with Yoins, it covers a wider product range. In addition to the latest fashion clothing, it also provides jewelry, wristwatches, beauty products, and accessories for both young men and women.
In 2017, Banggood was renamed from Banggood Network Technology Co., LTD to Banggood Technology Co., LTD as part of preparations for becoming a publicly traded company.
Banggood is one of the leading enterprises in the International e-commerce industry. In 2018, it became one of the BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders.[9]
Etymology[edit]
Banggood is the joining of two words "Bang" and "Good" that both have the same meaning. In Chinese bang (棒) translates into English to something similar to good. By combining the Chinese and English translation, Banggood was created.[2]
